Recommended for 3-5th graders.

Early elementary students (grades 3-5) use SNAP!- a visual language to build their own blocks. Young game designers use drag-and-drop features using the keyboard to design characters, have them interact with each other, add sounds, and much more! Learn the fundamentals of computer science through loops, randomness, and control blocks. Students get 10 hrs of direct instruction followed by 10 hrs of homework to be completed at their own pace.

High school students use Minecraft, one of the most popular videogames of all time, to learn the concepts of game design and apply them to build interactive worlds, engaging environments, and use them to tell a story. Students get 10 hrs of direct instruction followed by 10 hrs of homework to be completed at their own pace.

Protection of Minors Policy

The University has adopted a Protection of Minors Policy to promote the well-being and safety of minors who participate in programs or activities run by or associated with Rutgers. The policy includes requirements relating to reporting suspected abuse or neglect of minors, completing relevant online training, and undergoing background checks for Authorized Adults and people in Direct Contact Positions as defined by the policy. Non-University organizations that wish to operate programs or activities involving minors on RU campuses must ensure their programs are run consistent with the guidelines of the University's Protection of Minors Policy and the Guide to Working with Minors.
